Anime to Watch: Frieren Beyond Journey's End
Hey there, my name is Suthai Maxwell and I am the store owner of the online shop known as figurineitout.online. I wanted a way to connect better with my online audience in the same way as my in person audience. I want to develop a connection with customers and visitors of more than just buy and sell, I want to speak about our love for anime, what we like, and why, amongst other things. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End
What is it About?
Frieren is about an extremely old elf mage that travels the world aimlessly looking for spells of all kinds. Whether it be an extremely useful attack spell, to spells that plant flowers or make shaved ice. The story begins with the ending of a quest that shows the original heros party defeating the Demon King of their world. Yeah I know, that seems like it can only get duller from there, however, thats not exactly what the story is about. After the party is thrown a festival in their honor for defeating the Demon King, they promise to meet back up 50 years later to watch a meteor shower in a place of Frierens recommendation.
So they meet back 50 years later and make the trip to the recommended location while reminiscing on their travels during their journey to defeat the Demon King (this will happen a lot during the story). Shortly afterwards the hero known as Himmel passes on and at his funeral Frieren begins to cry. She questions not only her friendship with Himmel, but also her view on life and how she treats others. That starts the purpose of her new journey and the whole purpose of the name of beyond the journeys end. The reason for the name is because after the journey is over, Frieren starts to wonder why she never paid her so called friends, more attention during their journey, why didn't she get to know them better. With that in mind, she takes on another journey to do just that.
During Frierens travels she will meet some old friends and enemies. Meet and train some new allies while also upholding some old promises, but she does so from a different point of perspective. This show is about her changing her view of the world after that journey that not only changed the direction of the world, but also her view of it. While watching this anime you will grow closer to the original heros party through a series of memories from Frieren and the remaining party members that are still alive. You will also experience her changing views as she travels with her new companions, this creates a deep meaningful bond between you and the six main characters in the show. Overall its a great exprience which makes it a "great anime to watch" and I have to recommend at least giving the show a try.
What Makes it a Great Anime to Watch?
Overall, I have to give Frieren a solid 10/10! The story to me personally seems to flow pretty well. Characters are well thought out and flushed out well enough to understand and relate to them on a personal level. It doesn't bring anything wildly new to the table for its specific genre, but it does a great job with pacing and character development. I do like it's aspect of telling the story and bonding past adventures with current ones through memories. It never confuses you either, it's always clear that it is a memory and the signifigance is always explained. With such consistent writing and character development there is no reason to not watch this anime.
